Parish Community of St. Joseph
Parish Community of St. Joseph
Parishioners gathered with the BWBR team as this project began, sharing their thoughts about what made their community unique. The emerging components became the inspiration for design — hospitality, participation, and adaptability.
An open, spacious, semi-circular sanctuary — uniquely entered via a path passing the altar and baptismal font — encourages community meeting and greeting before ceremonies. Transition between worship and fellowship is smoothed by a pivoting wall connecting the sanctuary directly to the gathering space. Stone and wood finishes inside and out lend a natural beauty to the church and create a glowing ambiance within.
