Biotech Relocation
Madison Area Technical College
Madison College’s Biotechnology program aims to support advanced biotech training and research in support of a skilled workforce for the life sciences industry in Wisconsin. To achieve this goal, state-of-the-art facilities are key, yet their existing laboratory space in the Truax building, while having served the program well, was becoming outdated.
The design solution was to relocate and redesign the Biotechnology program in the Health Education Building using a shared lab support model in order to create a modern, hyper-functional space. Support spaces were located between teaching labs to centralize the function and allow lab coordinators to efficiently set up classes in two labs from one space. Distinctive, branded designs begin in the corridors and extend into the learning spaces, creating a cohesive and modern environment.
