Pharmaceutical Clean Production Facility Addition
Lifecore Biomedical
Lifecore Biomedical’s pharmaceutical cleanroom plant formulates syringe medication and fills syringes with both its proprietary blends and medications shipped from other manufacturers. An ISO 7/8 cleanroom addition to the existing facility alleviated production bottlenecks that had been caused when Lifecore outgrew its inspection and sterile processing spaces.
In addition to more cleanroom space, the two-level expansion also added specialized mechanical air handlers to serve the cleanrooms, a new employee patio overlooking the adjacent lake, and minor remodeling in the existing building. Shell space for a future aseptic filling expansion included indoor mechanical rooms on the second level, as well as accommodations for future offices, labs, and any new service lines.
The project was designed and constructed on a fast-track schedule so that impacts to the existing cleanroom areas would take place during Lifecore’s annually scheduled plant shutdown period.
