Mendel Hall Science Facility Renovation
St. Catherine University
Mendel Hall has housed the sciences at St. Catherine University for nearly a century, providing an essential learning space for the students the college serves as the largest Catholic women’s university in the nation. The renovation of the facility will preserve the character of the historic building while bringing in new, innovative elements that meet the needs of today’s student population.
The design maximizes visibility between labs and circulation spaces, effectively showcasing experimentation and discovery, and will feature a collaboration hub to foster strong connections between students. The addition of a new entrance will make the facility fully accessible from the campus mall, alongside updates throughout the interior infrastructure.
With enhanced technology and upgraded teaching, research, and student lab spaces, the reimagined hall will support women pursuing STEM careers into the future, creating a collaborative, state-of-the-art environment that prepares students to work in professional laboratories.
