West Des Moines Medical Center
Mercyone
The first hospital in Iowa to achieve LEED® Certification for new construction, MercyOne West Des Moines Medical Center was conceived to be a modern and efficient replacement facility at the center of the busy Wellness Campus in Clive, Iowa. The Center is adjacent to the BWBR-designed MercyOne Health & Fitness Center.
Using evidence-based design, the team created a core-model emergency department, separating operation traffic and support from patient areas, promoting patient privacy and creating a calm, comfortable environment for all. The facility was one of the first to implement a hybrid decentralized-grouped nursing station model, combining the efficiency and safety of decentralized stations with the communication and social benefits of a centralized station.
